In many cases people are waiting for approval to attend SHARE which is in
March. Check the figures after mid-February to get a better figure.

Hi Frank:
Do you have SUBTSKS=1 set on to get the CO TCB to offset the write activity
for VSAM files? If you have a lot of VSAM writes, you could probably see
around a 3-5% CPU on this TCB. The RO TCB should reflect some RACF and progr
am load activity. Finally, the FO TCB should show some

This is a little self-serving for Accenture. If banks continue to modernize

The considerations for CI/CA splits varies with either on-line or batch

I am not sure why you would want to do this at the end of the lease.
Usually the residual value for the box (z9BC) is very low at the end of the

Mark's right. While new software is often required to support *new*
features, it's not required to support *older* hardware. Going from a

Hi:
The new algorithm uses 1/3 the key size for its calculations. So, looking
at your example using a 4 K data CISZ which generates 180 CI/CA, you would
roughly need (180*((44+3)/3))=2640. This formula is lacking a few other
things such as the CIDF, the 24 byte header and internal fields

Hi:
The real cost of extents is when you have to create/get one as you have to
update the VTOC and catalog information. Processing is not a major issue. The
only danger is when you are running close to the mqximum extents.

Hi John:
The cost for extra extents occurs when the extent is required because of thbe
overhead of having to go to the catalog and VTOC. There is a little more
virtual storage required. The only other danger is that you run out of
available extents allowed for the component.

Gene
