we switched to ESCON, an interesting coincidence...
Our solution was to add 'TIMEOUT=25' to the UPSTREAM task parm field. Our
timeout is now 25 minutes which may be too long for your shop, UPSTREAM will
wait that

You can use the CA-1 dialog that came with the product if you have
access to it. Do an inquiry (option 1) for your tape, put a 'U' on the
command line and overtype the date. Pressing enter will let you confirm
it...
