Rex,
Since you are not receiving any errors in your MIGLOGs regarding the
dataset in question, space management is probably not running for that
storage group. You must have Auto Migrate set to something other than
NO to get space management to run and expire datasets.

The procedure to write a new label on an ML2 volume is covered in the
DFSMShsm Storage Administration Guide under chapter 20 Data Recovery
Scenarios.

Hell Guys ,
We unfortunatley ended up having a 3590 ML2 tape which is giving NO LABEL

Message EDG4031I indicates you may not have the correct authorization to
write the tape label.

Thanks everyone for the input , this is what I tried from HSM Admin Guide :
//STEP1EXEC PGM=IEBGENER
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*

Is there a patch or setting in HSM where if a dataset fails
serialization during autobackup, to have HSM do a fuzzy backup anyway?
I know the dataset backup will most likely be trash and unusable.
This is just to appease management.

Since we don't have instantaneous backups at our shop, that statement is
ridiculous.

If you've heard of many cases of files

Do you have the UNIT parm specified on your DEFINE DUMPCLASS?

This is starting to drive me mad..
I have two separate LPARs, each running HSM. I'm as convinced as I can be that
both ARCCMD00 decks are the same, certainly as regards to auto backup function
anyway.

Simply append an A to your DD names to signal you wish it converted to
