What version of the operating system?
What security is in place to touch the production VSAM dataset?
Are these systems connected? Or are they totally separate (Dasd, Channels,
etc...)
If the dasd can be seen by both systems and you have the security, then the
following will work

From production to test? Are you creating test data from live
data? Do you want to move or to copy?
The IDCAMS EXPORT command will copy
If the catalog/vols can be seen/shared on test and security is in place(if
sharing racf then s/b no change)...if not then bkup andr estore on vol's
on test

If you are truly MOVING the cluster, a simple EXPORT on the PROD LPAR,
catalog and the job is done.
