We are on z/OS 1.7
Yes, but you must supply a //STEPLIB for the run time modules.

z/OS 1.4 to 1.7 Migration
Anyone have an estimate of the time
If this was supposed to be an answer to the can you run VS COBOL II
programs, this is just plain WRONG. You absolutely should NOT use a
STEPLIB. Use ONLY the LE run-time modules built in to LE.
(Sorry if this was in answer to something else, but too much was snipped)

1.7 by March 2007
Following are my observations on Z/OS 1.7 migration (Application program
Specific).
Batch OS/VS COBOL : Existing load modules will
run under Z/OZ 1.7 with out any change.
Can anyone confirm that VS COBOL II load modules will continue to run
under Z/OS 1.7 with out recompiling them to Enterprise COBOL?

yes, someone can.
The Enterprise COBOL Migration Guide will tell you which programs need
re-linking (if any); what restrictions exist, etc. see:

Anyone have an estimate of the time required to migrate from z/OS 1.4 to
1.7? Relatively small z/890 system with three LPARs. Any comments on the
amount of time is helpful.

I would say that you should be able to install and convert a test LPAR in a
week or two if you don't have any of the JES2 exit conversion issues or
something like that. We have a log of fairly closely integrated software
for our size shop, so it takes us longer. Probably 2-3 weeks of work, but
