Yes, I would have to agree with John. While IBM z/OS Mainframes are certainly my favorite piece of the technology (I go back to 1975, DOS/VS), I have had to learn Linux and solaris 'well' and Microsoft moderately well, in order to stay in demand. Education in Networking and SAN's do not hurt any at all, either. And, unfortunately, Certifications count.
