Re: capacity planning

2008-08-13 Thread Tim McCluskey
Hi John,
Take a class from Neil Gunther; check out his website at
http://www.perfdynamics.com/.
Neil has some great books and a very good Annotated Bibliography on
his site, I took the Guerrilla Capacity Planning class and it put it
all together for me, times have changed and the capacity planning
cycle is shorter these days than it used to be. Neil talks about this
in his book:Guerrilla Capacity Planning
A Tactical Approach to Planning for Highly Scalable Applications and Services.

Also become a member of CMG (Computer Measurement Group). The CMG'08
Conference will be held December 7th through 12th in Las Vegas, Nevada
at the Paris Hotel. the website has previous conference proceedings
on their website.

Also for your area check out the local CMG chapter Ohio Valley
Computer Measurement Group;
http://www.ohvcmg.org/.

Good Luck...
Warm Regards,

I have been given the task doing capacity planning for our z9 machine and I
have NEVER done this before and have no idea of where to get started.
So my question is are there any books red or other wise which would point me
at some method of doing this or programs which help with this task. Also do
any of you folks have any thoughts to help me?
 Thanks in advance

 Gents,

Would appreciate if someone can help me out:

If I specify PRIV in the PPT. Does this mean I bypass RACF checking?

I have a discussion where someone claims the statement above but in my
opinion he is confused with PRIVILGED(YES¦NO) on the RACF RDEFINE
 command.

What does PRIV in the PPT exactly does?
