I'm doing the compatibility maintenance on our z/OS 1.7 system, so I can safely install 1.9. I just noticed that one dataset, CSF.SCSFMOD0, went from 1 extent to 3 extents. How can I release the 2 extents I don't need. When I compare the maintenance version of the dataset with the old

How do I release the space? I have a RLSE command from the CBT tape, but I'm not sure it works on PDS/Es. Try going to ISPF 3.4 and using the F command beside the dataset. I believe that works. - Too busy driving to stop for gas!

After I sent my original post, I thought that if several members were updated, they were probably stored in the new extents. Since you can't do a compress, which would mean that once you go into extents, you can never free them, unless as you say you reallocate the dataset and copy it to the
