Health Checker and SMF
Hi to all, Now checking my Health Checker again ( and again! ) on z/OS v1.13, I see no SMF Health checks. After reading 2.1 books in below URL, I'm convinced this is by design. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSLTBW_2.1.0/com.ibm.zos.v2r1.e0zl100/checks.htm Am I correct or did we missed something? Which brings me to a question: Is there a need to write out SMF records for checks performed? (Not counting accesses using these RACF class XFACILIT, profiles HZS.**) TIA. I have a very simple test case with // EXPORT SYMLIST=* //SET VAR1=200 //SET VAR='Hello World' // EXEC ASMACLG,... larl r2,symbolList lar3,symbolArea lar4,diagData iefsjsym request=getbyname,diagdata=(r4), + symlistarray=(r2),numentries==y(symbolList#), + symbarea=(r3),symbarealen==a(l'symbolArea), + mf=(e,iefsjsym_l,complete) I use GETBYNAME, but have not tried the GETALL.I also tried wildcard names in my symbol list. If I can get GETBYNAME working the way I want, I plan to use that to pass run-time options to the program instead of parsing a PARM=/PARMDD string. Thanks for any suggestions... Please note that I had a typo in my comments. It should have been 'now' instead of 'not'. Sorry if they may have caused any confusion. And now Cringley has come out with his counter article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/robertcringely/2015/01/26/anatomy-of-a-layoff-how-ibm-is-likely-to-spin-this-weeks-force-reduction/ Thanks, Mark Regan, USNR-Ret, 1969-1991 From: Mark Regan 000d30be819f-dmarc-requ...@listserv.ua.edu To: IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU Sent: Monday, January 26, 2015 4:03 PM Subject: Re: IBM’s reorg-from-Hell launches next week - Cringely Supposedly IBM is not dismissing the Cringle report and the massive layoffs.
