TSAB location

2016-02-09 Thread Anthony Fletcher
I am trying to migrate some TCPIP GATEWAY statements to BEGINROUTES as required
by z/OS 2.2.
The method I have been recommended to use is to get a system dump of the TCP
address space, then use IPCS to format the data using the TCPIPCS command which
will format the routes in BEGINROUTES format.
I don't know whether that works or not because when I do that I get a message

BLS18100I ASID(X'0001') 16CFB000 not available
Unable to access TSAB at 16CFB000

I have tried various combinations of what to have in the dump, but the TCPIPCS
command always fails as above.

Anyone had this problem and/or know what the TSAB is and why it should not be
available, and more importantly how to make it available?

BookManagerBUILD and DGW HTTP Server under z/OS V2.2

My questions now are:

1. Are there any additional tasks to recognize, when doing such an attempt?
2. Did anyone out there a similar approach and is willing to share his/her
experiences?

Many thanks in advance for any support.
Kind regards.

Not sure about the HTTP SERVER stuff, but for BKM, I just copied my existing
EOX/EOY target libraries to a "private" volume and placed all datasets, books,
etc. in a common ucat.
I also removed EOX/EOY datasets from linklist, apflist, lpalst IOW, BKM is

of the system is the ucat.

BKM is running happily in this "isolated" environment (and I got some VSCR (not

z/OS v2.1 and PeopleSoft v8.47

2016-02-09 Thread Roger Wasley
Morning all

I am looking to chat to ANYONE who has migrated from z/OS v1.12 to v2.1 and is
running People Soft v8.9 and PeopleTools 8.47.04

When running the PSOS390 process scheduler on z/OS v1.12 it worked perfectly.
On z/OS v2.1 we have ALL process (application engine, SQR or Cobol) stuck in
posting. PSNT processes complete the posting function

We have been working away looking at LE abends in the People Soft ".so" modules
and although using a few setting in the People Soft config we avoided the LE
dump we still do not get processes to post.

Has anyone experienced this on this old People Soft version? If you did have
you found a solution?

TIA
Roger

ACCEPT all the service you want to have installed on those FMIDs before
running BUILDMCS. Unless they have to be installed in the same zones as
z/OS, consider installing them in their own libraries and zones so that
you don't have to do this again.

The first thing that I do when a script is not working correctly is make
the first statement be:

set -x

this will echo each statement to stdout just before it is executed. It
helps me get a better idea what is going on.

more likely your "[" is in the wrong code page.

Since many z/OS people don't switch their TN3270 emulators from 037 and use
1047 (the default for z/OS Unix), I often avoid brackets and braces in

Good catch!

Switch it from 037 to 1047 and *never* switch it back. Works for me.

That was it! I normally run emulator A which is set up correctly as 1047.
Pop'ed over to use emulator B (which is set up for 037) to assist a user having
with a file transfer problem involved with some of those other special
characters. Then I fell asleep at the wheel.

Thanks for the reminder!

The Administrative Office of the Courts has DB2 DBA opening in Olympia WA. The

There are a lot more code pages in common use, especially here in Europe.
Switching TN3270 to CP1047 is not always an option. I consequently do:
a) avoid TSO OMVS
b) use SSH to log into the shell
c) make sure the shell code page matches theTN3270 code page (run chcp in
/etc/profile or ~/.profile)
Take care of config files which must be in CP1047. My .profile allows me to
choose the CP at login. Alternatively, use iconv.

That was exactly my thinking, but just before posting the same
suggestion I tried a simple IP TCPIPCS in a SLIP dump I happen to be
working on from a z/OS 2.2 system, with the default ASID set to the
job I am looking at. The TCPIP address space is not in the dump, but
TCPIPCS works fine, to a point; the TSAB and several other TCP/IP
control blocks seem to be in common storage, and it summarized them
nicely.

So I don't know what is wrong with Anthony's dump, but I'll guess that
[E]CSA was not dumped.

Based on the "ASID(X'0001')" in the BLS18100I message, I have to assume
that the IPCS default ASID is MSTRJCL. If you know the ASID of the TCPIP
address, issue the commnad
IP SETD ASID(X'xx'). You can also use IPCS option 0.
If you don't know the ASID, issue
IP SELECT JOBLIST(TCPIP)
Then set the default ASID.
Hope this helps.

normally the default prefix for issuing MVS Commands from SDSF is "/", not "-".

Hmmm... I didn't recognize it as an MVS command because it *didn't* have
"/" as a prefix.

That's how it appeared in the manual.

Is this YA stupid code page problem?

Is that prefix configurable and the developer had an idiosyncratic convention?

Is an RCF in order? If I could find a publicaton number.
