SMF Type65 - Determine who Deleted the Dataset

2020-12-31 Thread Jasi Grewal
Hi, I have a situation where a user is requesting information in how his
datasets got deleted.
We tried using SMF and then using RACFRW to generate report but is not
reporting on Dataset delete but it has all other information.

Is there a Tool available where one can use to read SMF type 65 and generate
reports on dataset deletes.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,

HSM Query CDS Command Using ODS

2020-08-04 Thread Jasi Grewal
Hi,

This might be an old news but was wondering if anyone has found a solution to
HSEND Query CDS Command as it uses TPUT and displays on the screen instead of
using ODS option.

Our Site requires this information to measure the performance of the HSM
Datasets on daily basis and is using OPS/MVS and CA Sysview.
I prefer using Rexx Program to extract this information and would be easier as
am new to CA Sysview and still looking for solutions via OPSLOG via JCL or Rexx.

Any guidance would be appreciated,
Thanks in advance,

Regards,

PIPE command on zOS Platforms

2020-07-22 Thread Jasi Grewal
Hi,

I have a z/OS System and unfortunately I cannot use PIPE commands in Rexx
Programs.
It states 'PIPE command not found' and does a Customer have to pay for the z/OS
Feature to use PIPE's under Rexx Program.

Which Product does a Customer have to order or enable to allow a user to use
PIPE commands.

Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Mike and Joe,

This is to inform you that they have it working now and we suspect that it
might have been the process in transmitting DASD volume to Hercules that was
causing issues but the good thing is that is working.

Your continous support and responses are very much appreciated, Friends.

Thank You and Wishes you Beautiful day.

Sorry about not providing model but is Model 27 rescue volume and I created 1

I will get my IBM friends to look for tapeconv.jcl on z/OS IBM System and then
use that instead of using IBM zVM DDR+Terse.

Migrate z/OS DASD volumes from Mainframe to Hercules Environment

2020-06-30 Thread Jasi Grewal
Hi,

I am sorry I am just learning Hercules Systems and trying to migrate one of my
z/OS DASD Systems from Mainframe to Hercules Environment.
I have z/VM running on Hercules but when I tries to IPL z/OS it seems that
there is a corruption and that is most probably cause of wrong process.

I believe that there must be some method to migrate the z/OS DASD from
Mainframe to Hercules.
I used z/VM DDR+Terse to migrate zOS Dasd but I don't think that is the correct
process.
Is there a Documentation in how to migrate z/OS Systems to Hercules? That would
be appreciated.

Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,

Bypassing Duplicate DASD Volsers during zOS System IPL

2016-05-03 Thread Jasi Grewal
Greetings, Is there a way to have system bypass dasd volsers duplicates during
system IPL as I am aware, we can add in IODF as OFFLINE=YES but we have many
z/OS systems and many DASD which are duplicates.

These duplicates are being created by our zLinux Environments and we share the
same DASD Controller with them.
Is there an easy way to have zOS System ignore duplicates and instead of
prompting with Duplicate replies.

Any advise would be appreciate it.
Thank you in advance,

Thank You Donald and Yes you were correct and your initial statement did fixed

somehow interpreting it as TLS12.
So here's our latest statements and which works now:
ServerName xx..xxx.xx
SSLProtocolEnable TLSv12
SSLProtocolDisable TLSv11 <== changed it to TLSv11 instead of TLSv1.1

SSLProtocolDisable TLSv10
SSLProtocolDisable SSLv2
SSLProtocolDisable SSLv3
SSLEnable

Apache Web Server running on z/OS unable to detect TLS 1.2

2016-03-29 Thread Jasi Grewal
Greetings, We are using Apache Web Server on z/OS system and are seeing the
Nessus reports on Port 443 as it cannot detect TLS being enabled, though we do
have the statements.

Our intention is to serve some non-secured pages but main provide our users
with controlled access to some more sensitive pages. When Listen 443 is
uncommented in the config file, the server fails the NESSUS scan. I can only
pass the scan by commenting out Listen 443.

httpd.conf:

#Listen 12.34.56.78:443
Listen 443
Listen 80

   ServerName xxx..x.xxx
   SSLProtocolEnable TLSv1.2
   SSLProtocolDisable TLSv1.1
   SSLProtocolDisable SSLv2
   SSLProtocolDisable SSLv3
   SSLEnable
   KeyFile /saf IHSASRV_KEYRING

We are seeing the following Nessus scan results:

High Severity Vulnerability
TLS Version 1.2 Protocol Detection
Synopsis :
The remote service encrypts communications but does not support TLS1.2.
Description :
This script detects whether TLS version 1.2 is supported by the remote service
for encrypting communications.
Solution :
Consult the application's documentation to enable TLS 1.2 or if not supported
ask vendor to add support for TLS 1.2 (with approved cipher suites)
Plugin Output :
TLS v1.2 is not enabled on this port.
Nessus Plugin ID : 951001

Any advise would be grateful.
Thank you in advance,
Regards,

Jasi.

Using IBM z/OS TDMF Product to Migrate 3390-9 to 3390-27's

2016-02-16 Thread Jasi Grewal
Greetings, I would like to know, if we can use IBM z/OS TDMF to migrate z/VM
and zLinux DASD to newer model 3390-27's from 3390-09.
The other problem is that we don't have that many targets as Source vols so
every MDISK would have to be migrated to consume DASD Space and does TDMF
supports the feature of copying MDISK's from Source to Targets or does it only
supports Full Volumes migration.

Or do we use copyddr tool to copy mdisks from source to targets from z/VM
System.
Any experiences or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Is there an Standard Size for 3390-27's?

2015-11-18 Thread Jasi Grewal
Greetings, I would like to know, if there are any standard sizes for 3390-27's
because I read different manuals and each of them refers as either 30015 Cyl or
32760Cyl for Mod 27's.

Would like to hear your setup of Mod 27's and if you are using 30015 or 32760
Cyl for Mod 27's.
Here's the two manuals that states two different settings for mod 27's:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/51615339/IBM-Mainframe-Disk-Capacity-Table#scribd
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redpapers/pdfs/redp4187.pdf

Model Cylinders Tracks Bytes/volume Bytes/track
3390-1 1113 16695 946 MB 56664
3390-2 2226 33390 1.89 GB 56664
3390-3 3339 50085 2.83 GB 56664
3390-9 10017 150255 8.51 GB 56664
3390-27 32760 491400 27.84 GB 56664
3390-54 65520 982800 55.68 GB 56664

Then this manual states 30015 Cylinders:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=tss1prs4558=1

Thanks in advance,
