Hi Radoslaw, I'm ready to learn, but coding //DASDIN DD UNIT=515,DISP=OLD will result in a JCL error. Coding //DASDIN DD UNIT=515,DISP=OLD,DSN=NULLFILE or //DASDIN DD DUMMY,UNIT=515 will get ADRDSSU complaining about INPUT DEVICE TYPE IS INVALID or similar. Can't test right now, I'm on the road.

Hi Lizette, the OP wasn't very specific to what he wants to achieve and didn't react on any of the replies he did receive already. It was me who brought z/VM into the game, telling him that DDR would be his friend. Under z/OS, there's no native tool that I know of to dump a volume specifying

When using INDD or LOGINDD, the specified DD statement will cause MVS to moan with IEF244I and IEF877E, if the corresponding device is not mounted and online. For INDYNAM and LOGINDYNAM the manual states that the devices have to be mounted and online. So, no offline dump with DFDSS Christian

Not that I know of natively under z/OS. If you have z/VM available, DDR is your friend; or write your own using EXCP based on a few utilities Sam Golob and other have written already. Christian -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: IBM Mainframe Discussion List
