Re: MIH Question

2014-02-21 Thread Scott Chapman
I agree on both points--if there's a requirement it should be documented, and
we don't have any MIH values coded for our DS8870. We still have some in there
for tape, which I think is still recommended even with the TS7700 VTSes.

I do recall in the past having to put in temporary MIH values for DASD devices
while migrating from one DASD box to another. Always made me a little nervous
about the actual migration: minute-long I/Os seem like they could result in a
less than fully non-disruptive migration.

We recently migrated from a IBM shark dasd device to a IBM DS8870 device,
 we
are zos 1.13 monoplex shop. In the IECIOS000 member was the following
 entry for
the shark devices MIH DEV=(2000-2BFF),TIME=02:00. Is there a way to
 determine
if an entry is needed and what it should be for the new devices? The old
 entry was
added before my time and I do not know why.

 Thanks Matt

There should be something documented in the manuals for your DS8870 to state
what they want.

Or you can ask you friendly IBMer.

Too many Macarena dances with Teqiula? ;-D ;-D

There was an emulator product called 'Rumba'. I remembered the good old days
when I have to evaluate that thing.
