Use Scheduling Environments. They are easy to set up and work great for this
purpose. It also allows you to move the product (program) to a different
system. It does require users to change their JCL.

VB 255 was very common years ago. One of the reasons is that Stage 1 Clist
processing will scan to the end of the line looking for another command. One
could eliminate a lot of overhead by using VB. Personally, I have always been
an FB 80 guy.

I should have mentioned that we already run MIMIT (MIM Integrity) to stop
programmers from destroying datasets (such as by linking into a source PDS).
In 1.9 the Binder will not link into a PDS unless it is RECFM=U. This was done

The idea of exchanging server heat for building heat is interesting
though.
We did this at Aetna twenty five years ago. The heating system didn't
come on until the outside temperature reached 32 F. Until then all the
heat for the data center came from the processors.
