Mystery solvedour problem was BMC Batch Optimizer...it was running on one test lpar but not the other, so our results were different. -Original Message- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dave Barry Sent: Thursday, September 11, 2008 8:41 PM To: IBM-MAIN@BAMA.UA.EDU Subject: Re: z/OS 1.9 and IBM1521I S 4.0 Not enough virtual memory is available to continue See how much region was used by looking at the IEF374I message VIRT and EXT numbers for when it works and when it fails. -Original Message- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Lopez, Sharon Sent: Friday, September 05, 2008 1:46 PM To: IBM-MAIN@BAMA.UA.EDU Subject: z/OS 1.9 and IBM1521I S 4.0 Not enough virtual memory is available to continue We have 1.9 on one of our test systems. This is a system that was build in Jan. 2008. We also have another test 1.9 system, which I just applied all hipers and RSUs through 0806 and now I cannot get PL/I 3.7 to compile. Both systems have the same storage amount. Has anyone seen anything like this? I have a ticket opened with PL/I support and now I just opened up one with virtual storage manager. Re: z/OS 1.9 and IBM1521I S 4.0 Not enough virtual memory is available to continue
Sharon, In that case, what exits do you have on your two systems which control / limit region size in batch jobs? Are they the same on both systems or might there be differences? IMHO, it appears to me that those exits might need customizing to ensure 100MB of above-the-line region for all batch jobs (or, if easily identifiable, those compiler jobs only). Re: z/OS 1.9 and IBM1521I S 4.0 Not enough virtual memory is available to continue
Yes, that's the only error message. I can get it to work with 0m and 60m. For storage below the 16M line, both 0M and 60M allocate all that's available. (Actually, any figure above 16M allocates all below, unless you have an exit controlling it). So, how big is your below the line private. And, do you have any idea how much the PL/I compiler is using below the line? In any case, this may be moot, because you have to allocate what is required. So, you may have to change your compile PROCs. - Too busy driving to stop for gas! -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
