I may as well chime in since I actually have some expertise with trying to
get XAS of organometallic compounds on silica surfaces (mainly pertaining
to quesion#1).
These are the papers I've previously published with my group for inorganic
and organometallic compounds grafted on silica
To whom it might concern
The older version of Athena had the possibility to save the data as chi(E),
which is sorely missed in the newer version. Is there an easy fix for this?

Regarding the initial guesses this is what I experience (I've
managed to understand the symptoms a bit more specifically now): I
set up the initial guess values in the GDS window and run the
