@Binny If you are referring to the default image viewer for ubuntu, eye of gnome, from version 2.30.0 has the feature to play animations of gif images. I think updating this software to the latest release will solve your problem. Hope this helps... Freedom

[fsug-tvm] Gif Images in Ubuntu
