Make sure the modem is a visible AP. First of all configure your modem to an 'always-connected' settings. This will help fixing wi-fi issues fast. If your modem is configured, you have to check your wireless card. So please get your name of the card here. You can use lspci | grep "Ethernet" for t

Plugin rp-pppoe.so loaded. RP-PPPoE plugin version 3.8p compiled against pppd 2.4.5 does anybody has a perfect solution to solve this problem and get connection to internet i cant update my ubuntu due to this...none of the above solutions worked --~--~-~--~~~---

The above stated points are right from my research on the matter using google :) But for me it is the BSNL person asked to change config to bridge, as iam unable to connect through PPPoE. That depends on how your broadband modem is configured. I think BSNL nowadays configures most modems to handle the PPPoE part so that the end user just has to plug in the network cable. If the modem is not configured for automatic connection, you can either configure it to do that or use pppoeconf
