All the application like (oocalc, oodraw etc,etc ) are
placed in /usr/bin/ which are linked to actual bin
file in installed dir
If from the icon you are able to right click -
properties .
In the command section add the path where soffice is.
#locate soffice.bin
In the command put soffice -writer

Had to do this sometime last year myself. :)

was trying to convert some .ps files into pdf, but
ps2pdf and all other related tools just don't work.
they all generate a pdf file which is empty and 321
bytes in size.
whats the problem here?
even tried the export feature in pdf viewers, but
those are obv just frontends to these

I think the way to do this in *nix world is through NFS. I am not a NFS
man myself, but people who use it for sharing files are generally happy
with it.
