Pl. boot your computer with a bootable floppy you made during linux installation. Now log in as root user. After you have logged on as root user, just issue the command as follows :
 
grub-install /dev/hda
 
By all probability, your problem will be solved.

I installed rehat 7.3 on my machine and when i was to reboot i got the message

Error 28 : selected item cannot fit into memory.

i am getting this error on grub for the first time. please help.

to avoid the error i thought of installing the old LILO. but there also i got the error message as

Fatal : Map segment too big.

please help. As i am unable to boot the machine.
