Re: [IMail Forum] On going problem

Something similar has happened to us, we found that we were using for
SPAM, users had the same name as your password. And used for SPAM.

Also limited to 70 and number of recipients per message .

Looks at the queue, you may be being used for spam, that is why 1600
will appear in the queue.

Greetings and Happy New Year 2009.

However, a large number of users are seeing problems both sending and
receiving messages. We can't find anything telling in the logs, the
DNS seems to be working properly with third party tests, we're not on
any black lists, etc. The problem is sporadic and both with incoming
and outgoing messages. Sometimes we'll see 100 files in the spool
folder, other times 1600. A restart, 10 minutes later, back down to 50.

We're at a loss here and are unfortunately now looking at other
platforms because we just can't seem to get this resolved.

Any suggestions on anything worth checking we may be missing?

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Chris,

I have reported that problem on June, 11th on this list. In my case it
happened with IMail Premium V10. I tried all the things you did - and
with the same result.

What I did then was to change the logging config of SMTP and POP3. I do
not use "Log Server" as logging target but "SYSMMDD.txt" instead. That
works for me.

Not a solution but a workaround...

Hello Stefan,

Just got your message - had missed it
earlier. I've made your change. POP was already
going to SYSMMDD.txt but SMTP wasn't. Hopefully that will take care of it

Many Thanks!

Obvious question that needs to be asked, is there some other process
that has grabbed the syslog port?

[IMail Forum] On going problem

2008-11-17 Thread Chris Ulrich

Continuing the earlier post ...

* I had restarted the service and saw the log was created. What I
didn't realize was that other than the "IMail ready" message at the
top of the log, there was nothing in it.

* I've restarted all services, and still no log.

* Got a call from a customer whose alias stopped forwarding, about
the same time as this issue arose.

* Finally, I've given the machine a physical reboot.

Things are in the queue, the SPOOL folder does swell and contract,
same as normal. Some people have reported messages not received,
others not delivered when sent.

Any thoughts?

Thanks !!!

[IMail Forum] On going problem with SysLogD

2008-11-17 Thread Chris Ulrich

Hello all -

I'm running 8.22 ... over the last 3 weekends, our logs just "stop".
I've had isolated complaints that mail stopped but know that others
are getting it, so it may just be a spam filter issue for those people.

I looked this AM and our logs ended Sunday at 9:32AM. No error
message to finish out the log. No full hard drive. It just abruptly stopped.

I checked in the IMail Administrator and it showed the service was
running (didn't check "Windows Services", should have). I stopped &
started from within iMail Admin and the log was instantly created and
recording information.

I've checked the Windows Event Viewer and nothing relevant anywhere
near the time that the service may/may not have choked.

Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions? If I'm just losing
logs, that's not great, but if it is a symptom of something worse,
that's even more troubling.

Thanks
