[IMail Forum] SMTP Slow

2009-01-11 Thread Katie LaSalle-Lowery
Hello,

We're having issues today with SMTP.

First the service crashed a number of times.
Now it is slw.
The server is close to idle - nothing hogging cpu, etc.
I've restarted services (SMTP + Queue Manager).
I've restarted the machine.
I've rebooted the firewall that it is connected via.
The server is not sluggish or slow to respond to keystrokes via Remote
Desktop .
Transferring data using other protocols (FTP, for example) is normal, so it
doesn't seem to be a network or communication problem.
The service is slow to respond to POP clients and also when tested via
telnet.

We are running Imail 10.01 on Windows Server 2003.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Katie

[IMail Forum] SMTP slow responce

2003-06-11 Thread Mats2
Hi,

Have a problem with IMail 7.15, smtp service.
Very often it takes a very long time for the service to give me back the
prompt 220 ESMTP
None of the other services(pop3, imap, ...) have problem with this.

Any body having any suggestions?

Are you running 16-bit programs on the server (such as the DOS version of
F-Prot along with Declude Virus)? If so, you may want to stop using the
16-bit programs and switch to 32-bit programs (such as the fpcmd.exe that
comes with F-Prot).

For some reason, some servers have serious problems (like what you
describe) when running 16-bit programs, for no apparent reason.
