I don't want my users sending 20 megabyte attachments through my \spool directory and out my pipes, and I don't what non-users sending in to my users 20 megabyte attachments, either. They can have ftp sites for that as part of their accoun with us, which are more efficient. But what's does this SIZE restriction have to do with a public mail server's port 25? Hi Adrian, How large are the attached files, and is there a max mailbox size on the recipient's email server? RE: [IMail Forum] File attachments problem!
Just a thought: I had some problems with webmail attachments (actualy retreiving attachments via webmail whether sent by webmaiol or not). The problem turned out to be a bug in imail that a ver dilligent imail tech found. If a line begins with the word "from" anywhere in an attachment file that imail attempts to "read" (html, text, etc. not zip, etc.), then the attachment truncates at that oint and any additional attachments are ignored. Just in case it is related, I thought I would mention it. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Frank Williams Sent: Wednesday, August 16, 2000 9:13 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] File attachments problem! Re: [IMail Forum] File Attachments Rule
>I have seen it written both ways to block file attachments, and am wondering >what the difference is between the one with the quotation marks and the one >without, and which is preferred: > >name=".*\.exe" >name=.*\.exe In most cases, MIME segments are created with quotes around the filename (I believe all standard mail clients do this, although it is not required). However, there are now a few viruses that send themselves as an attachment without the quotes, hoping to bypass virus scanners (and filters). Then, there's also uuencoded files to deal with, as well as BinHex and Microsoft's TNEF (which you can't use filters on, and can only be detected with something like Declude Virus). -Scott --- Declude: Anti-virus, Anti-spam and Anti-hijacking solutions for IMail. http://www.declude.com --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list. RE: [IMail Forum] File attachments in Web mail
I applied 7.04 and I get text attachments in the email as a link but it is not working with binary attachments. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
