Thank you Usha di,
The segregation of the Euphorbiaceae subfamily Phyllanthoideae to family
Phyllanthaceae and the classification of the family by Hoffmann et al.
(2006) are largely based on molecular studies.
Such studies have been carried out on some tribes including genera Breynia,
Sauropus, Glochidion, Phyllanthus etc but so far no such studies have been
published in Antidesma group.
Data available so far are insufficient at present and it will further
studies are desirable. Some studies available so far do not corroborate
well with the external morphological differences and delimitations and this
raises practical difficulties.
Regards.
