Dear Dinesh ji & Garg ji,
At the outset I am sorry for the delay in providing clarification on '
theeradatthi' . The transliteration in Kannada is ತೀರದತ್ತಿ. ತೀರದತ್ತಿ
is a compound word here . The explanation is as follows :
ತೀರದತ್ತಿ = ತೀರದ + ಹತ್ತಿ (ತೀರದ = belonging to shore or coast; ಹತ್ತಿ =
cotton fiber ) . Furthermore, compound word form of ತೀರದ + ಅತ್ತಿ =
ತೀರದತ್ತಿ as well as ತೀರದ + ಹತ್ತಿ : ತೀರದತ್ತಿ are written in a similar
way in Kannada ( as far as my knowledge goes ). Therefore the
confusion. In fact it can also be written as ತೀರದ ಹತ್ತಿ , to be more
precise.
Thanks & Regards,
