Garg ji & Lalithamba madam, Thanks. In Tamil it is written as "Tamala maram" the Krishna's favourite tree. It is a tree planted in front of a temple ( Purandhara temple a Vaishanavaite's temple) in a town near Tirunelveli. Here in Mysore I consulted an expert taxonomist , who confirmed that the tree is Garcinia xanthochymus only. I also checked a review paper on *Garcinia* sps in Researgate and matched with G.xanthochymus. Now I am really confused ! Madam, I shall be thankful if you could post the photographs of the Diospyros planted in A.P temples. I am curious to know. Regards, m.Swamy
