Re: [efloraofindia:327330] Re: WEIRD interruptions

2019-08-15 Thread dr.rakesh Singh
Today it happened to me .
Google says it is sending such messages to four million users daily , and
primary objective seems to be making users aware of security threats
.
for example , some hacker may infiltrate the group and ask for private
informations etc. It is a lot of reading on so many links .
Way out of that red alert is...
click on the box below the mwssage written 'details' inside
page gets extended .
click on ' visit this unsafe site ' ...and desired page opens up .

In reality , our group is not in problem . This seems to be a safety
exercise by google and chrome being carried out vigorously on chrome for PC
, and only tangentially on android and google/chrome for mobile , as per
google's own admission .

Now that you brought this up , Usha Ji , this has happened to me too
long back , but somehow it got resolved on its own . I didn't do anything .
I think this has to do with antivirus you use . I have disabled
window's security , use Quickheal on desktop and bitdefender on mobile .
On two new machine there were avast and Mcaffee
pre installed and they were interrupting a lot not only with efi but
with general net surfing too . Norton on mobile was a nuisance . I
suggest you wait for few days ,
else do something with antivirus .

some trips by Smita ji, Anil ji, Virdi ji (our Zoology friend frm Delhi),

Dear members,
*This is our tribute to Dr. Balkar Arya and his outstanding contributions
in building Efloraofindia, on Independence Day. His amount of contributions
can be assessed from the aspect that although his last major activity was
in Jan.'2015, he still remain at no. 8th in **All time Posters List*
*. He joined us
along with other stalwarts like Dinesh ji, G. Singh ji, Vijayasankar ji,
Nidhan ji, Pankaj ji, Tanay ji etc. in around 2010 and took our activities
to the peak.* *He was the first who presented eFI before the taxonomists in
IAAT conference first in Banglore and later in Delhi, with his great
vision, along with Nidhan ji. Power point presentation of it, can be seen
by downloading at **Files*
*. *
Since than we have followed his great spirit as below:
Hardly a week goes when we look at some genus or the other, in efi site.
We look into all posts in that genus, compare them with the keys available
in our threads, in efloras or else where online and with images and
specimens available online and in GBIF and also make their comparative
images, if already not available. We also seek guidance from our earlier
threads as well as well refer to the suitable experts. In the process, a
lot of threads with incorrect or no identification, are resurfaced with
correct identification.
Genus generally taken up these days, is one in which our members face
problem in getting proper id or clarity. Having images on most of our
threads, help a lot in the matter, along with the key features suggested
earlier by our experts.
So every week is a Genus Week in efi for quite sometime (It started in a
small way about four and a half years back when we looked at each
family along with all its genera).
Happy Independence Day to Balkar ji and to all of you.

other species i.e. *Alphonsea ventricosa* (Roxb.) Hook. f. & Thomson?

2019-08-15 Thread Nidhan Singh
Happy Independence Day to all the Indians across the globe..!!
You are right Garg Ji, about the initiatives taken up by Balkar Ji in the
earliest days of eFI. His tempo and energy provided the initial pace
necessary to break the inertia. I did join efloraofindia only after Balkar
Ji suggested me to do so..and it really changed my life...
Thanks Garg Ji and all friends for nice words...!!!

Kudos to Balkar ji for his special contributions.
As Garg ji puts, during 2010 and following years, the "activity" or tempo

Gurcharan ji and other respected leaders led the concept of family month /

Subject: Dr. Balkar Arya- Remembering our great Hero on Independence
Day- Every week is a Genus week
 To: efloraofindia
 Cc: Balkar Arya

 Dear members,
*This is our tribute to Dr. Balkar Arya and his outstanding
contributions in building Efloraofindia, on Independence Day. His amount of
contributions can be assessed from the aspect that although his last major
activity was in Jan.'2015, he still remain at no. 8th in **All time
 Posters List*
 *. He
joined us along with other stalwarts like Dinesh ji, G. Singh ji,
Vijayasankar ji, Nidhan ji, Pankaj ji, Tanay ji etc. in around 2010
and took our activities to the peak.* *He was the first who presented
eFI before the taxonomists in IAAT conference first in Banglore and later
in Delhi, with his great vision, along with Nidhan ji. Power point
presentation of it, can be seen by downloading at **Files*
 *. *
Since than we have followed his great spirit as below:
Hardly a week goes when we look at some genus or the other, in efi site.
We look into all posts in that genus, compare them with the keys
available in our threads, in efloras or else where online and with images
and specimens available online and in GBIF and also make their comparative
images, if already not available.
So every week is a Genus Week in efi for quite sometime (It started in
a small way about four and a half years back when we looked at each
family along with all its genera).
Happy Independence Day to Balkar ji and to all of you.

So every week is a Genus Week in efi for quite sometime (It started in
a small way about four and a half years back when we looked at each
family along with all its genera).
Happy Independence Day to Balkar ji and to all of you.
