Hi folks, [Apologies for length of email] I recently built IMAPD 2.0.9 + SASL 1.5.24 + Berkeley DB 3.11 from source on NetBSD 1.5 release (i386). I use LMTP/TCP delivery with Exim 3.20, pwcheck for auth and plaintext over SSL with Netscape 4.75 MUA. Overall, quite impressed! Now for the problem

Why not use LDAP for authentication ? If one LDAP server is not enough (but then you will need MANY users), you can use replication to n servers. LDAP is an open standard, therefore you can start with a simple LDAP server like OpenLDAP at the beginning and replace it be a better one if you need
