It's safe to put both of these in tmpfs, and since they're fairly busy
it's a good idea for performance reasons. Further, nothing ever removes
files from /lock/, so it's probably a good idea in

I put these in TMPFS:
proc
socket
log
Activity in proc is pretty low under 3 megs.
Still running Cyrus 2.3 here, not sure what the
lock directory you mention is?
