We had similar problems with 2.3 when testing during the summer. We run Cyrus 2.2 on our frontends (and 2.3 everywhere else) since they don't have the bug. bug report https://bugzilla.andrew.cmu.edu/show_bug.cgi?id=2669 Maybe add you findings to the bug report so it gets more attention.
