This is just a follow up to my previous email (see below).
Reconstructing the mailboxes:
# systemctl stop cyrus-master
# su - cyrus
# /usr/lib/cyrus/bin/reconstruct -r -f user/djones
# -d
# systemctl start cyrus-master
resolved the problem.
