Hello, This is to announce the release of GNU mailutils version 3.7.
GNU mailutils is a protocol-independent framework for email processing. It provides a set of libraries for doing almost any mail-related task on any existing mailbox format, using a consistent format-independent API. Several tools are built atop of these libraries and included in the package. Among them are pop3 and imap4 servers, the traditional mailx mail reader, the sieve mail filtering utility and a complete set of MH utilities compatible with GNU Emacs MH-E mode. Visit https://mailutils.org for more information. See the end of this message for a list of user-visible changes. First, be sure to download both the .sig file and the corresponding tarball. Then, run a command like this: gpg --verify mailutils-3.7.tar.gz.sig If that command fails because you don't have the required public key, then run this command to import it: gpg --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 3602B07F55D0C732 and rerun the 'gpg --verify' command. Noteworthy changes in this release: * Support for the new mailbox format - dotmail Dotmail is a replacement for traditional mbox format, proposed by Kurt Hackenberg. A dotmail mailbox is a single disk file, where messages are stored sequentially. Each message ends with a single dot (similar to the format used in the SMTP DATA command). Any dot appearing at the start of the line is doubled, to prevent it from being interpreted as end of message marker. * Improve automatic mailbox format detection This release introduces a notion of accuracy level for the purpose of mailbox format detection. Selecting the accuracy level allows the user to achieve the desired balance between the speed of the folder scan and accuracy of mailbox format detection. The accuracy level can be set either from the configuration file, using the mailbox.accuracy-level statement, or from the environment, via the MU_AUTODETECT_ACCURACY variable. The default accuracy level 1 discerns valid mbox and dotmail mailboxes providing reasonable scan speed. Level 0 (previous default) does not discern them, but provides maximal speed. Level 2 and higher provide better accuracy at the price of speed. * Bugfixes ** mh - correctly parse +/abs/path folder specification ** tls - fix handle interruptions in read routine ** URL parser: use case-insensitive comparison for auth and host parts ** maidag: fix coredump in daemon mode ** movemail: make sure UIDLs are properly stored. ** mail: force mime mode if at least one attachment was given (see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=918806) Best regards, Sergey -- If you have a working or partly working program that you'd like to offer to the GNU project as a GNU package, see https://www.gnu.org/help/evaluation.html.
