Thanks. It appears that this is a known bug with xorg. But, since I don't know when they are going to fix it Im looking for a workaround. Is there any way to tell gnus not to make-font-instance for certain (foreign) fonts? Any way to limit the set of fonts it is allowed to use? jmv
