Duration Over 12+ Months Job Description Job Description: PayPal Command Center (PPCC) runs the business of PayPal by managing all of PayPal’s production systems. This includes monitoring, incidence management, problem management of storage, servers, network, databases, application servers, batches and ETL infrastructure. We are looking for an exceptional ETL engineer to join the team that works on PayPal Command Center. If you really enjoy ETL applications and have interest in cutting edge technologies like Control-M, Informatica, then this is your job. This position is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the ETL operations job schedule. This includes understanding the business requirements, the product development technical details and functional job workflow in the Control-M job scheduling application. The ETL Operations Engineer will reside in the Command Center (a.k.a NOC) with primary responsibility for all ETL-batch monitoring and tools as well as first tier resolution of batch production issues. Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to juggle multiple production restoration priorities and work quickly under pressure to minimize the impact of etl-batch production issues against service level agreement (SLA) performance objectives. *Job Responsibilities:* · Proactively monitor the alert console to act on ETL-batch failure notifications. Review logs, reference documentation and use working knowledge of applications to either resolve ETL-batch failures, or to become the “smart switch” that routes the incident to the correct tier II escalation contact. · Ensure that all batch production events are properly ticketed within the incident management system. · Work with and drive tier II groups (ETL-L2, PD, Job Scheduling, DBAs, SAs, etc.) to diagnose complex problems and drive resolution as quickly as possible. · Execute tickets requesting ad-hoc execution of production jobs. Validate the completeness and accuracy of the request, execute and provide results/feedback to the requester. Work with requester to troubleshoot and resolve any problems encountered along the way. · Gather and analyze standardized metrics reports on ETL-batch failures. Work with cross-functional groups (DBAs, SAs, Product Development) to identify and resolve root cause of chronic failures. · Able to create/revise documentation thoroughly for tactical use and training · Follow all documented processes and procedures · Provide timely feedback on process/procedural improvements and to improve operational efficiencies *Required Skills:* · Control-M · Informatics · Unix/Linux · SQL *Desired Skills:* · Scripting *Expected Qualifications:* · BS (BE or equivalent) in a technical field or equivalent 3 years of relevant experience.
