*Title: Senior Java Developer* *Duration: 1+ year * *Position Type: Contract* *Location: Plano, TX* *Must be local to TX!!* Acts as the principal designer for major systems and their subsystems utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs. Provides comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level on all phases of application programming and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client server, software, hardware, technologies and tools, etc.). Works closely with client and IT management and staff to identify application development solutions, new or modified programs, reuse of existing code through the use of program development software alternatives, or integration of purchased solutions or a combination of the available alternatives. Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective application programming solution. May code new or modified programs, reuse existing code through the use of program development software alternatives and/or integrates purchased solutions. Documents, tests, implements and provides on-going support for the applications. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, typically four or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of two years of experience application program development, or the equivalent in education and work experience. *Responsibilities:* Contributes to software development strategy and product roadmap specific to Independent & Family Plans Contributes from a development perspective to manage and minimize the complexity of retail transactions in healthcare Contributes to architecture to manage the complexity of distributed systems (e.g. Web 2.0, SOA, ESB patterns, client server, legacy system integrations, master data management concepts, batch vs. real-time considerations, rule evaluation technologies) Contributes to User Experience thought leadership Assists in the translation of business requirements into meaningful requirements or stories Contributes to user research, concept testing, and usability testing Contributing member of an agile team *Qualifications / Skills* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills Capable of driving decisions specific to meta-data and configuration concepts Experience creating a utilities to manage business processes & configuration Experience managing process concepts within BPM products desired Experience with toolsets & technologies (Flex, DOJO, mash up, rest, etc.) Experience with frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate or iBatis Expertise of J2EE 1.6 stack *Java Developers: * Spring Integration & Spring Batch FUSE ESB & Apache Camel XML Skills - XPATH/XSLT/XML Queries Apache ActiveMQ or similar message queue solution Working experience with maven builds and integrated test suites Ability to work with Unix based systems. Experience implementing e-Commerce, CRM or targeted marketing capabilities desired Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) Experience with JSON Experience with HTML5 Experience with JavaScript Frameworks (like AngularJS) Experience working at software or SaaS companies desired Experience with Agile development (SCRUM methodology) desired Experience leading a team in collaborative development of prototypes for demonstration of concepts Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline strongly preferred, typically four or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of two years of experience application program development, or the equivalent in education and work experience.
