The manager wants a "true" engineer" who:





can see the defect and know why it is not working.  In other words, is the
issue a development issue or an infrastructure issue.



They must be able to read the code and if there is a minor fix, they could
try fixing it.



For example.  When the manager says here is the defect.  How would you fix
it/check it?  He wants multiple answers like:  It would depend, I would
look at this or then do this.  Or another way is to try that.



Also, he asks "if you had 100 hours of work to do in one week, what would
you do to get it done"  He wants to hear solutions--like, lets move
resources, or combine the work, etc.



Does this make sense to you?

QA Engineer (Mid-level)

6 month contract to hire



*Primary Purpose*

Quality Engineer will be dedicated to developing routine tests, designing,
coordinating and tracking the testing effort. This position requires strong
deductive reasoning, extreme attention to detail, persistence, patience,
and creativity. They will work with (IT) Developers, Business Analysts,
DBA’s and Product Managers to analyze, develop, maintain, and execute
quality assurance testing procedures.



*Key Responsibilities*

•        Create test plans and test cases validating requirements on
applications and services

•        Design, document and execute test cases, record, document and
analyze test results

•        Perform Functional, Integration, Regression and Performance Testing

•        Perform database validation testing

•        Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve project and test issues

•        Identify, confirm, report and manage defects through resolution

•        Conduct test case reviews to ensure requirement coverage

•        Ensure project milestones and deliverables are met

•        Establish and maintain strong working relationships with cross
functional team members

•        Identify, recommend and document quality assurance and test
practices

•        Research tools, methods and technology trends to support testing
objectives

•        Report test status to Team, Department and Project management

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities



*Education & Experience Requirements*

•        Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, IS, MIS or
related technology or engineering field or relevant work experience

•        2-5 years QA experience

•        Possess strong Analytical and troubleshooting skills

•        Experience working in SQL/NOSQL data stores

•        Experience testing API/SOAP/Rest services

•        Experience with Mobile Application and device testing

•        Expertise in database testing including the design and creation of
test data, validating stored procs, jobs, triggers and replication

•        Possess strong understanding of web based technology

•        Working knowledge of the agile development methodology

•        Experience or working knowledge of Scrum framework

•        Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel,
Word)

•        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•        Detail oriented, thorough and a problem solver

•        Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

•        Ability to organize and work on multiple tasks at the same time

•        Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team
environment

•        Self motivated, quick and intuitive learner

•        Comfortable reviewing code changes

•        Capable of limiting testing effort to specific code changes
