15-18 years Function: Websphere Application Server on z/OS or WASz &
Middleware MQ for z/OSJob Title: Associate Consultant/Consultant (L3
Administrator)Duration: Contract Duration: Downtown, IL
Job Responsibilities:
Functional experience is required with the following technologies:
- Responsible for WAS and MQ product sets on zSeries platforms
including: Installation, maintenance, and administration of MQ and WAS
software. Manage deployments of maintenance releases, red-alerts, and
emergency maintenance.
- Experience in the deployment, installation, configuration,
administration, tuning, and support of IBM WebSphere Application Server on
z/OS
- Configuring and administering interfaces for WebSphere MQ on z/OS and
performance analysis of the servants
- Conduct software proof of concept and product evaluations. Serve as
Point of Contact for Vendor relationships and engagement
- Maintain standards and best practices documentation. Support for
highly available, MQ clusters, WAS on z/OS & CICSplex environments on
zSeries.
- Experience with implementing, and supporting MQ shared queues and MQ
cluster configurations. Experience with z/OS, MQ & WASz advanced features
and functionality and ability to collaborate with application developers on
application design
- Support for application development and testing, and for the analysis
and resolution of problems with the MQ and CICS product sets, in both
production and non-production environments Design and develop exits and
other facilities to enhance MQ infrastructure (requires MQI and C or
Assembler coding experience) Performance analysis and tuning skills.
- *Support infrastructure for the MQ and WAS product set, including
Automation, Change Collaborate with the Production Support team on problem
and incident management, disaster recovery, sustained resiliency, LOB
testing events, and capacity planning requirements as needed.*
Soft Skills/Other skills:
- Excellent communication and conversation skills (Verbal and Written)
- Good documentation skills
- Good working knowledge of MS OFFICE
- Understanding I/T service delivery issues and trends
- Able to handle unforeseen situations
- High level of acceptance
- Worked on Production systems
- Datacenter understanding
- Experience with Database Migration, Installation, Upgrades and
Patching using SMP/E on z/OS
- Knowledge of Data warehousing and Other Technologies(RDBMS)
- Mainframe Storage Management exposure
Good to Have:
· Research and apply fixes to MQ & WAS on z/OS
· Experienced in independently and directly managing projects of
mid and high-level complexity
· IBM Assembler language familiarity, to be able to look at code
and dumps and also to work with Exits.

· Strong Interpersonal skills and ability to translate IT Technical
language into everyday terms which users can understand, specifically
non-technical senior management.
· Ability to interact with customers so as to ensure that the
service is flexible, efficient and responsive.
· To work through issues analytically to a successful conclusion.
· Demonstrable results in a business customer facing role, with a
track record of delivering services to defined service levels.
· Experience in the management of multi-discipline teams in
distributed locations.
· Experience of working in an Operational environment alongside
other technical and operational teams, ensuring that all parties
collaborate effectively to deliver services.
· Use of ITIL Service Management Framework to deliver best practice
capabilities.
· Proven ability to deliver improvements that deliver greater value
to the customer and business through more efficient delivery.
