"Multidisciplinary Findings in Conflict Research"
Annual Conference of the Conflict Research Society (CRS)
University of Ulster, London/Derry, Northern Ireland (UK)
1-3 September 2004

The Conflict Research Society (CRS) in partnership with INCORE/
University of Ulster and United Nations University is pleased to
announce their annual conference ‘Multidisciplinary Findings in Conflict
Research’ from 1st to 3rd September 2004, University of Ulster, Magee
Campus, London/Derry (Northern Ireland).

A key role of the Conflict Research Society is to be the meeting place
of choice for professionals working from all disciplines who share a
desire to develop a better understanding of the processes, implications
and management of conflict in all arenas. This 3-day residential
conference, arranged in close partnership with INCORE at the University
of Ulster is the first that the Society has held in Ireland, and is
intended as a forum for sharing the outputs of recently completed and
ongoing research. We now invite contributions to this event. We shall
be pleased to receive submissions that take advantage of the location of
the conference by reflecting its local and national context. The
Society is also particularly keen to obtain input from student
researchers and may be able offer some financial assistance to those
wishing to attend.

The programme will include a number of keynote speakers. This year, the
conference programme will feature the participation of Prof. John Hume,
current Tip O’Neil Chair in Peace Studies at University of Ulster and
the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.

The remainder of the programme will consist of papers and poster
presentations by those attending: we anticipate that most of those
attending will wish to contribute to the debate in this manner. The
organisers have no wish to constrain the focus of contributions by
imposing a dominant theme, but those contributions which are accepted
will be organised thematically.

The programme will be designed to permit the maximum possible time for
discussion. While conference fees have yet to be finalised, it is
anticipated that the total cost of the event including papers and
residential accommodation (with all meals and refreshments) will be
around £150: CRS members and students will receive preferential rates.
There will be special rates for non-residential attendees.

Abstracts for consideration should be sent to Jim Bryant at the
address shown by the end of May 2004. Acceptances will be notified by
the end of June 2004. Full papers will be considered for publication in
the Transactions of the Society.
