Gary,
It is not one of those. I think this one is closer. As Dennis mentioned,
maybe around Castle Rock WA. But so far, it is too weak to hear an exact
location, if they give it. The message is basically Safe Driving and
mentions of the Washington State Patrol.

Dennis,
Do you know the calls for Ridgefield? It might be them, as I heard no
location in the message so far. It is basically a safe driving message.

Bruce,
Thanks. Those call letter could be right, as the signal is weak and gets
QRM from Jewell Meadows, which is also weak here. I will check again
tomorrow during the day. At night, a jumble of stations on 530.

Dennis Bruce,
I just listened back to my cassette and yes indeed, it is WQBV586! As
weak as it was, it is understandable how I could mess up the calls. hi.
The announcer gives the numbers very clearly as 5,8, (pause) 6 Those
were earier to catch.
Not bad for groundwave of a 10 watts or less TIS
Hi Art,
The only info I can provide is as follows: Boston Patriots, New York Titans,
LA Chargers: All are original AFL teams and, as such, the first year of their
existance was 1960. I'm quite sure that WBZ-1030 was the first station to
carry Patriots games but I can't say definitely that
Brother Marc,
What I'm looking for is exact dates.
Thanks muchly though.
Art...

Paul,
Thanks for the tip, but Rainier would be ODOT, not WSDOT, and the calls
I heard were WQBV586. But thanks for the heads up. I am going Hy 30 next
week and I will try for Rainier while driving over that way to see if it
is on.

To Patrick, Paul and the group,
According to the FCC, it is the State of Washington,
xmitter location at I-5 US-12 intersection.

Where do you see Rainier as the location? The FCC lists it as being in
Napavine, which is just south of Chehalis.

Update on local TIS stations
530WPBX496 OR, Astoria, still silent and has been for 3-4 years.
This was was operated by the City of Astoria. (PM-OR)
1610 WPAX543 OR, Hammond, operated for a number of years by ODOT
with Marine info, but a very weak signal. Noted on the air last Fall,
Chuck,
It is listed on 530 under OR, but is operated by WSDOT, rather than OR.
But Rainier is across the Columbia River from Longview WA. It is listed
as WPXY406, 10 watts. I am going along there on Tuesday, so I will check
it out.

Charie,
Thanks. Lots of OR WA TIS's I could use. I got a zillion of them
already. Some are gone, but there are always new ones and new QSLs. Most
TIS/HAR stations are great QSLers. I have well over 100 TIS/HAR QSLs. A
report is going out to Olympia WA for Napavine tomorrow.
By the way, I ran
KFQD is going to be tough to hear in June! I don't even hear it myself,
1400 miles SE of Anchorage. I do get KTKN 930 Ketchikan in the Summer
though, but they are only 750 miles and have a bit more darkness.

Bill,
Forgot to note that some references refer to this type of antenna as
a folded monopole.
Actually, it is no more a unipole or monopole than any series-fed
vertical. In fact, it is a dipole system, but the other half of the
dipole is virtual, and is supplied by the earth.
That is one
And as I've previously stated, Craig and I are good friends, but I don't
think this is possible due to far too much light along that path in June,
and my strong belief that Grayline is next to useless on low freq's like 750
Khz.

Yes. There is an article posted on the am-dx.com web site outlining the
rationale behind that. I have some Geoclock snaps that show the greyline
across the US at that time of day. The Northeast is the worst
