Good catch Todd. That was a tough one, even back in the 50s. From Iowa
at least.

I am not sure if that is funny... or ironic... or both.
Isn't that like increases the speed limits on highways because of traffic
congestion?
Maybe what we need to

do people have luck getting GeoClock to work? I have tried periodically for
the past few months, then give up after not much effort. If I knew it was
now working, I'd try more persistantly. (Running Vista)

I have it running regularly - but in XP. I don't know if Vista is the problem,
but I strongly suspect it.

Which version? 32 or 16 bit? And what's your exact problem?
I have the 32 bit version running fine on XP and Windows 7 32 bit. The only
issue is the fact that the help file format is not supported out of the box
with Windows 7, but that is easily solved by a download from
I am running vista and my Geo clock program works pretty well. It took a

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows
you're running. Check your computers system information to see
whetherwhether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit version of the
program, then contact the software publisher. It's 64 bit.

Have a look at the Geoclock website
http://www.mygeoclock.com/geoclock/ You need a newer version for 64
bit compatibility (and even then there may be issues). I've been
running Geoclock ver 8.4d with 32 bit Vista and it works great.

I don't expect the tenfold power increases to happen.
For one thing, I don't think it would be possible for stations to raise
power to 500kw (or some other tenfold increase) near the Canadian and
Mexican borders without major pattern changes. Most Vancouver

I agree with Bruce. Economic issues:
(1) Look at all the Canadians who are dropping acreage-eating AM DA arrays for
monopole FM
(2) Look at all the US stations which are dropping night DAs in favor of lower
power non-DA night operation
(3) I think some, like KMJ, have gone to 50kw solely to cut
