Listened from 1350-1420 utc and conditions was up a little over yesterday with
audio from Russia-279, JOAK-594 and JOUB-774. The best audio was from
Russia-279 at 1355 utc and the audio from JOAK and JOUB was very poor.

Thanks to Nigel, Mike, Bruce, Walt and Pat for their comments on the 162
LWBC reception, much appreciated.
This morning was much poorer, however 162 did eventually barely reach
threshold audio--though a far cry from yesterday's relatively decent
reception. 1437 utc had first traces of audio;
Forgot to add that the 1710 Russian station, presumably Puget Sound area,
was the strongest I've had it this year, perhaps ever, around 1520 utc.
There was another similar sounding station much weaker underneath, maybe the
Portland/Vancouver one, if it's still on.

Here in southern Alberta things were down a bit further today.
Heard most of the same trans-polar signals, but today most were only
carriers. Presumed Farda on 1575 with bits and pieces was the only one
to reach any kind of audio (apart from a weak 774 Japan a bit earlier on).

Further to Nigel's recent description of conditionsdid anyone on the west
coast hear R. Farda last night?
I'm on Gabriola Island for the weekend, and an ALA100 pointing pretty much due
north has appeared of course, not far from an open stretch of Georgia Strait.
Farda was heard for awhile

Not a super opening, but a little bit of TA action tonight.
Earlier on had audio from Farda on 1575, and an unID station on 1413,
then things faded. A check again a few minutes ago yielded audio from
Absolute on 1215 and France on 1206, as well as quite a number of carriers.

Audio traces on 1215 and 675 in Victoria in the 0600 to 0630UT time
frame this evening; wasn't able to listen earlier.

Excellent question, Saul, and sorry that I can't really answer it.
It seems that sunrise on the coast in the fall may coincide with
another (undefined) peaking mechanism for TP's that seems to occur
around 1300 to 1400UT. In midwinter, receiver sunrise enhancement

I agree with Colin. I have used my ALA100 with varying amounts of
wire in noisy urban environments (hotel rooms), as well as on board
ships with metal bodies, and it does deliver. If you can get the
loop by a window, or out on a balcony, your success rate will
improve. It's also one of the

Moved to Waikiki and conditions in our hotel are definitely not up to snuff
compared to Kauai. I've noticed that the LSR is much earlier in Honolulu
compared to Kauai, by up to 30 minutes with sunrise occuring before 7:00 AM.
Our high rise hotel faces east, although the lanai does somewhat
