For what it's worth, when the solar cycle 24 forecasts began coming out back
in 2008, I forecasted that it would be the smallest solar cycle in 100
years. At the time almost all of the other forecasts were for a large cycle.

A Retro newspaper report from March 8th noted that there would be a monthly
cycle of flares of various intensity eminating from any area on old Sol in
various directions so I guess we don't get hit by all of them but if one heads
in this direction or better yet on a trajectory ahead of the

A few evenings ago and also this evening at 23:50 UTC I have been hearing a
station on 760 in what seems to be Arabic with mentions tonight of Bahrain and
other other Arabic talk, it seems to peak and then eventually fade away even on
the Kenwood R-5000 before any ID possible

the congestion on the AM band, must surrender the license of one of its two
stations at the end of five years, was a joke. Most stations ignored it with

I don't have an DX-R8 receiver therefore I cannot comment on how the I/Q
output was implemented. Strictly speaking, and based on Alinco's ad, the
DX-R8 would qualify as an SDR front-end. Once the I/Q is fed into the
computer, all settings are controlled by whatever SDR software is
