Saul,
I installed a PRO-1B about one year ago. I can not compare it to any other
loop, but can compare it to a high end active whip antenna I have. On MW BCB
it almost always outperforms the whip by providing a lower noise signal. By
noise I am referring to local man-made QRM sources. It
I suspect you are correct.

Have not had my Russian surplus ferrite antenna delivered to the condo yet
so have been doing some barefoot listening on a Yacht Boy 400PE Grundig...

WOW !! shocking difference between even the 12 FSL and the ALA100. If anyone
wonders why I use large outside antennas, this is why. I've seen similar
differences between the Phased BOG System and Kiwa Loop for TA's in Grafton WI.
ie TA's audible on about 40 channels (some with more than 1) on
KAZ,
Through the years I tried all sorts of indoor loops, not the KIWA one,
but others. I have never found any indoor antennas that would even come
close to one of the EWEs or Beverages. The same is true with a good
outdoor TV/FM Yagi. Nothing inside works near as well.

So true, KAZ! Unfortunately you won't be able to fit your usual antenna(s)
of choice on the Cape Perpetua cliff when you join us in July :^)
It would be very interesting though to compare a FSL when DXing at the
cliff to a small single turn car-top loop like Mark Connelly's Super Micro
Loop. To

Patrick, Kaz (and all),
The FSL antennas were never designed to compete with large, single-loop wire
antennas in wide open spaces. Their unique advantage is the ability to provide
high-gain, low noise transoceanic reception with a footprint of only one
cubic yard. No single-loop wire antennas
