Some solid signals from the old guard Asians this morning, from long
before sunrise. But, not much in the way of second tier stations,
and some Aussies also crept in as well.

My VACTROL sweeps from around 120 ohms (and that is a design thing that I
can change/lower) to around 3 K ohms.
I find my actual sweep of useful termination resistances are between 750
and 950 ohms - I have not yet done a complete calibration on
my current prototype (and I am building 3 more

Good 1st and 2nd tier performance from many of the regular Japanese stations
with stellar performances on some of the Korean regulars --
and even an odd appearance from some actual programming on 1053 above the

Thanks to Colin for his initial report, and I certainly can agree with him that
Asian signals improved quite dramatically this morning. Both the Japanese and
Korean big guns reached good levels across the band, and there were a few
unusual stations that showed up. For the first time this season
Nice stuff! How much Rt variation do you have to do across the band with the

The NRC has sold log sheets for years: http://www.nrcdxas.org/, under
"publications". I have no idea if they are like the Ham Radio logbooks referred
to below, though.

My personal preference is to avoid those 10 turn pots. They aren't needed if
you don't require a wide range, and I don't have any use for resistances below
700 and above 1200. Therefore, I use a 470 Ohm resistor in series with a 500
Ohm pot. It still requires a careful adjustment but is not

Makes sense - lots of Japanese stations this AM.
The N. Korea is a megawatt -- how powerful are the S. Korean jammers?

Pay no attention to the powers for North Korea transmitters!
I don't think anyone knows the power for the jammer(s). Oddly enough, they
don't seem to have publicized the power or notified the ITU. My guess is about
100 kW.
And yes, it would be Japan as they are the very normal occupant of the
