Asian conditions took a nosedive this morning as even decent carriers were
tough to find. A band check at 1330 revealed only an anemic carrier on 972,
with ghostly ones on 1053 and 1566. Increasing daylight at 1405 brought the 972
carrier up to a moderate level, but sank the ones on 1053 and
After this past weekend's DXing trip to the Rockworks cliffs in Oregon, I
took a close look at the SDR comparison recording I made while switching
between the Wellbrook ALA1530LN Pro and ALA1530S+ Imperium loops.
Once I started tuning at the extreme edges of the MW band I began to see

Ditto for my QTH in Victoria. I thought I could just tease out some audio
from 1116, presumably 4QR, but that was about it. Interesting that 972 was
showing signs of life at Nick's DX Fishbarrel, but nil for me. 73,...Walt

Here are a few audio clips I've made here at South Yarmouth, MA so far this
month. This is a mix of domestic and foreign DX.
In frequency order.

Hi Guys:
Conditions last night and early this morning continued to be decent and
netted me a few New Ones along with some interesting RELOGS!! The Box Loop was
once again oriented to the EAST/WEST, but also managed to grab some nice SOUTH
DX as well!! Considering the Box Loop is just Tuned
Conditions were better in Central California this morning. I listened from
1145-1330. Right away there were carriers on 594, 747, 774, 828 and 1053. Only
774 produced any audio. 1053 wanted to but came up a little short.
JOUB-774 peaked at 1232 with easy armchair copy of a JJ man and woman

Conditions were rather drab today/ 972 was the only one with any

There are only a handful of daytimers in California. KMPG-1520 in Hollister is
one and the only one with critical hours. It was on late last night and is
again tonight. KKZZ in Port Hueneme has been off since January 21 so this is a
good opportunity for DXers in the west. Format is SS music.
<<< 603 was a puzzler, as I don't think I've ever logged a DU there, even
under good conditions >>>
NZ's Radio Waatea is the usual ocean coast 603 suspect, Nigel. Nick has
received it // 765 this season, and it was S9 at Rockwork 4 with Maori music in

The Asians that vanished in mid-session yesterday certainly didn't
