For the past two nights am hearing someone on 1500khz with
very noisy sidebands. The noise sounds like a mix of
teletype signals and a popcorn popper. Same thing heard
on USB and LSB. It nulls roughly N/S. KSTP is in weakly
with sports and this noise does not fade in and out with
them.

You can listen to their stream here. http://www.amistad1660.com/main.htm
I heard them huge a few years ago via sunset skip (when E-W cx were much
better than today's typical AU cx) and the slogan was "Radio Amistad
Cristiana". 73 KAZ Barrington IL

Hi Tom, assuming you're hearing the same noise I'm hearing on 1500 at
night, then yes, it's been going on for at least a month or so. I have
noticed some nights when it isn't present, but it's making a mess of the
channel most nights here.

Hello
Just released, the first region of our new American Ambassadors of the
Airwaves series. Take a look this week!
These will look at the most important AM stations bringing American
culture, music, sports, news and events to the world between 1941 and
1983.based
Nothing on the upper band, and although there was a minor "sunrise"
enhancement, stronger and more numerous signals were generally heard
around 1330UT. Mostly Asian again, but some possible DU.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

KTIQ 1660 in Merced CA is listed with the slogan ``Radio Anvictio``
Anvictio is a very strange word, not Spanish, maybe Latin? It exists on the
internet only in DX lists of X-band stations, for KTIQ. Also in the NRC AM Log.
Search engines suggest it might have meant

I've wondered this too, if there's a correlation between the screeching
sidebands and WPSO. I'm hearing both fairly decent right now at 0120 UTC
tonight. Regardless, the screeching is most noticeable here too on my
South antenna.

Been noticing this since the fall on south antenna. Could this be coming
from WPSO? 73 KAZ Barrington IL

Thanks Neil. I'd be happy to lend a hand with the antenna work if I were a
bit closer. Hope you get back to reporting DX soon, but like many of us,
I'm sure you have a lifetime's worth of SDR recordings to keep you occupied
until things improve.
