I assume this was an FCC ruling and should be available in the FCC annual
report for 1942 or in the codified set of FCC rulings. Any decent
government documents repository should have this. I'd suggest going to your
nearest university library and talking to a government documents librarian.

I only show 32 new loggings for all of 2013. Total since moving here in
August 2007 is now at 372. I had about 700 over an 8-year span in New
Jersey before that, so I have a ways to go.
Best catches this year were 1640 KJBA, Sandy, UT; and 580 WKAQ, San Juan,

Thanks to folks who alerted us to WBZ IBOC being off! I am presently
hearing what sounds like a network echo for R. Reloj on 1020. Bruce Conti's
site and WRTH list only one Reloj on channel. Might be multipath of course.

I used to use an Access database when I was PC. Now I use an Excel
spreadsheet that I can color code. I color code rows green for
transatlantic logs, yellow for Latin American logs, pink for logs that
are now silent, gray for locals (allows me to see adjacent channels
easily), and no color code
...is on. Weak CW heard here. 1440 is a tough channel for me in
Albany. Gloversville is not far, but the local on 1460 puts a major
hurt on 1440.

A little late to the game, but thanks to Saul Chernos's DX tip, I camped on
1710 for awhile late last night. Spanish pirate dominated, but there were
two or three others under, including what sounded like a TIS/HAR
simulcasting an NWS weather broadcast. It faded in and out and sounded it
had a
Sweep tones, touch tone phone tones, etc. Recording on a new computer
using Audacity so hopefully I'll be able to capture some of it to send
Rene.

It's likely an amateur radio conversation. I heard a couple BT sigs
meaning a sentence break and the name Gary. It also sounds like the keying
is chirpy so it could be a transmitter spur he's unaware of. Didn't pick up
any callsigns though.

I use an Access database I put together myself. One thing I like
about it is that I can link directly to my Total Recorder sound files
from the database. It took an hour or so to set up.

presumed XEMR under WRVA. I was able to null WRVA decently. Mexican

fun. So far I've had readable copy on Miami, Savannah, Boston, and
Chesapeake. I'm still getting used to how far to tune away from 518 for

My wife is currently researching at the National Archives for her next book,
on WW2 radio traitors. She just emailed me a group of four letters and a
prepared card from shortwave listeners to families of POW's. German
shortwave stations broadcast brief POW messages and apparently SWL's of the
I listened from before midnight to just after 0030 and heard only regular
CBC programming: no Morse IDs, no sweeps, no special content. Maybe they
ran it after 0100, but I wasn't around for it.

Well, more like playing around...
First, I tried an old ferrite antenna from a friend's junk box.
Placing it near the internal ferrite actually worsened reception. So
a quick-n-dirty augmentation to the ultralight didn't work.
Second, I tried my Radio Shack loop. The SRF-59 liked being inside
Morse IDs and sweep tones just after TOH.

This an amazing radio for $15. Earlier tonight I was on 570 with it,
and it could distinguish 4 stations, three of which I ID'd. One great
thing about the radio is that it's small and light enough to hold
comfortably in your hand. You can move it around to keep the signal
you want on a second

I've been playing with it for the past half hour or so, and I'm very
impressed. It easily beats my old Superadio 3. I wasn't taking down
loggings, but it's very selective and on some channels I can separate
3 or 4 stations just

I was listening to WTAM tonight to hear the Indians whip the Yankees,
here in Albany, NY. I'm planning on listening (or trying to listen
to) WGN for Cubs coverage. By grace of God I'm both a Cubs and
Indians fan; I lived on the north side near Wrigley till age 26 and
spent 7 years in Cleveland

Thanks for the tip on how to deal with IBOC hash. I'm running a 2010
for the time being, as the Drake is still packed. The 2010 doesn't
have passband tuning unfortunately, but I'll keep your method in mind
when I get the Drake unpacked

Tim,
The 2010 is an excellent rig for AM and SW DXing. It was my primary radio
for several years, and it did a great job for me. I used it at the first 3
LBI DXpeditions here in NJ, and it could hear 4/5 of what the Drakes could.
Russ Edmunds also uses a 2010 at LBI.
I haven't used an Eton E1,
My condolences to Bob's wife and family. Yes, I would also like to send a
card if anyone knows his address and can pass it on.
His sports networks were useful for some new logs.

Just logged this at midnight Tuesday/Wednesday. I've needed this one for
awhile, and given that it's applied for a move to FM, I'm glad to get it.
Might not be spectacular DX, but it's new.
