Just out of interest, how many users of Windows normally run their
computer using a limited or standard account rather than using
administrator privileges, and how many of those limited users have
suffered from viruses etc.?
Thanks, and sorry for OT.
best wishes,
Nick

At my various clients, I have somewhere over a hundred computers to
maintain. Viruses show up primarily from someone clicking on infected
email, or going to a dangerous web site. Other computers have been infected
from outside by a malware that invaded that computer which had no antivirus

True that, but this time the hacker didn't access my computer, just my AOL mail
account, no doubt by force-guessing the password (which I changed, of course).
My Macs
I switched back to Mac in 2008, but I have a Windows XP and a Windows Vista
machine, both of which run Microsoft's free Security Essentials anti-malware
product. It works very well in terms of both catching malware and not hogging
the processor and RAM.

Hi Nick,
I've always used Admin access on my PCs and consider it to be more secure
that way as I have access to more options (such as setting timers for
anti-virus scans).
Over the years I've used both Avast! and AVG free versions, and although
they are very good for zero cost, a couple years
