All times and dates strictly UT [4 hours ahead of `ELT` during DST; when
changing times one must also change the dates for events in the 00-04 UT period
to the previous date by ELT].
Rx: mostly DX-398 or PL-880 with internal antenna only; NRD-545 with ALA-330S
inside or N-S random wire; Nissan stock caradio as specified; FRG-7 with E/W
longwire as specified
These logs are excerpts from my daily all-band reports, mainly SWBC, also
VHF/UHF, sometimes, utility, ham, which may be found in several archives
without much delay, such as

And compiled weekly along with extensive news from many other individuals and
publications in DX LISTENING DIGEST:

These logs are in four sections, Canada [if any], Oklahoma [if any], rest of
USA, unidentified [if any], separated by ======= Within each, they are in
frequency order
** CANADA. 650, Oct 22 at 1219 UT, ``Sweet Caroline`` song in English, so
unlikely the usual SRS occupant of 650, XETNT. No, ID as CKOM and traffic
report concerning Highway 11 from Saskatoon to Prince Albert; 21 after 6 TC in
CST, warm hi today to be 13 degrees; 1226 UT ad for potashcorp.com --- CKOM
Saskatoon is dominating frequency with little else: Saskatchewan rather than
Sinaloa today! Yet, checked 540 at 1225 UT and no CBK. CKOM is 10/10 kW, U4:
both day and night patterns are nominally northerly, but day pattern also has
minor lobe to south. Announcer helpfully said their sunrise would be at 7:43
[1343 UT]. My last logs of CKOM were in Sept & Dec 2013 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** NEWFOUNDLAND [and non]. 2598-USB, Oct 16 at 0053 UT, YL in English with
marine weather, very poor with storm noise level from western and northeastern
OK. CGC website says starting at 0048 UT is VCP Placentia, Nfld., via St.
Lawrence site.
2749-USB, Oct 16 at 0053 UT, YL in French, poor signal slightly better than
2598. CGC says starting at 0040 UT is VCO Sydney, Nova Scotia via Port
Caledonia site, but not in French? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 800, Oct 16 at 0557 UT, checking whether I can pull PJB past KQCV
OKC, the latter IDs as ``now also at 95.7 and 102.3 FM``, and into `Mission
Network News`. NRC AM Log 2015-2016 mentions no FM // for 800. (Its real
sibling FM is 95.1, but separately programmed.) Per WTFDA FM database, the KQCV
re-Botts are:
95.7: K239BT, The Village [NW OKC suburb, where I once lived], 250 W, totally
blocked here by KXLS Lahoma/Enid
102.3: K272FD, Del City, SE OKC suburb, 215 watts [NOT ``Dell`` City as in
WTFDA; but there is a Dill City elsewhere in OK], vs full-power 102.3s in Tulsa
and Woodward (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 1170, Oct 16 at 0125 UT, KFAQ Tulsa forecasting a high today of 91
--- guess what, it`s night already, and this is outdated on a 50 kW
IBOC-monster. You can`t do better than that? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 1210, Oct 19 at 1223 UT, KGYN Guymon strong as usual; seems never
to be on night pattern any more, which should be direxional away from us and
Philadelphia. Exact canned ID says ``From the Nineties till now, this is
Today`s Country, 1210 KGYN``, played twice, before at least a minute of dead
air until a commercial. Or I wonder if they`ve got it backwards? Day pattern at
night, night pattern at day. At such a distance it`s always been weak but
audible on daytime groundwave (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 1530, Oct 16 at 0030 UT, Gregorian chant catches my ear, like the
stuff your hear on EWTN/WEWN network; 0031 UT into lo-fi Spanish talk from
phone, 0032 UT mentions Catedral de la Sagrada Familia; loops ESE/WNW, so I
suppose it`s just KXTD Wagoner, tho not the programming I would expect nor
normally hear on QueBuenaTulsa. No way it`s daytimer WJDM Elizabeth NJ, the
only SS:REL 1530 listed in NRC AM Log (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 1650, Oct 16 at 0021 UT, promo by wacko Alex Jones at 9 pm on
``KYHN``; 0024 UT, jingle SID, ``Arklahoma`s Talk Radio, KYHN``. As of Oct 2,
the FCC thinx callsign changed to KFSW, so maybe that will be the legal ID at
next hourtop? Nope: same old KYHN SID jingle as at 0024 UT, adding ``Fort
Smith``, in an adjacent state, before 0100 UT CBS bong and news.
So --- more confusion about the identity of FCC Facility 87114 which is really
in Sallisaw, OK, but the city you have to search on at AM Query is Ft. Smith
--- the only AM station there, the others allegedly in Fort Smith. You`ll
recall an attempt earlier this year to change calls to W, yes, W-FSM which was
never heard on air either, and expunged from FCC records after having been
granted. So when will it ever become KFSW? Note the new call could be construed
as merging Fort Smith-SallisaW (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Re: BTW, I still have not been able to confirm 730, KLOE Goodland KS
is still on the air, after not hearing it by groundwave in the OK Panhandle
(Glenn Hauser, OK, Oct 10, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
Just now: 730 kHz, 10/16 1849 UT, Out of Rush Limbaugh with network & local
spots for Goodland KS and Burlington CO, "New you can depend on News Talk 730
KLOE". 73 (Wayne Heinen, Editor AM Radio Log, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 860, Oct 16 at 0122 UT, KKOW Pittsburg KS with ``20/20 weather``,
forecasting cooloff there like here into the 60s/40s, then cowboy & indian love
song. At least their weather is not colored, like some radio stations claim, on
a totally aural medium except for synesthesians (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 1100, Oct 20 at 0624 UT, heavy CCI about equal levels between WTAM
Cleveland OH, and KNZZ Grand Junxion CO, making a fast SAH. The latter mentions
``western slope``, keywords for there (like ``front range``, not eastern slope,
for Denver/CS/Pueblo), ID, then back to `Red Eye Radio` --- NRC AM Log
2015-2016 does not list it as a RER affiliate (while WTAM is on `C2CAM`). KNZZ
is 50/10 kW U12, which means non-direxional day and critical hours, direxional
night. Night pattern should be tight figure-8 NNW/SSE or so, and not like we
are getting it, presumably really on ND day pattern not nulling toward
Cleveland. Does WTAM care? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. UNIDENTIFIED. 1200, Oct 17 at 0613 UT, I find WOAI unusually weak
with `C2CAM`; maybe on backup/aux lower-powered transmitter? I am also getting
country music on 1200, making a SAH of 6 Hz with WOAI; at 0628-0631+ UT the
song in English has a gospel aspect. Isolating this as much as possible from
WOAI, the DF I get is NW/SE, which doesn`t compute, as there is nothing on 1200
between here and Vancouver, nor to the SE this side of a little Florida
station. (Not to overlook country KYOO Bolivar MO, but supposed to be a 1 kW
daytimer; and religious KFNW Fargo ND 50/13 kW.) I must still suspect WAMB
Nashville TN, from the east, which has been caught cheating before.
See my Aug 20-21 logs: ``George McClintock replies August 19, gist: Gary Brown
is the contract CE of WAMB; maybe running about 8 kW, or 3.5 kW critical-hours
power. He was surprised that you were hearing it. WAMB is being sold, and the
C&W music is temporary.``
Radio-locator still has WAMB 1200 as ``Real Country`` and linx to the website
of WANT-FM, 98.9 Real Country, which shows nothing about an AM 1200 duplicate,
but instead 1490 WCOR, outdated? WTFDA FM db for 98.9 WANT-FM mentions no MW
//. These are really in nearby Lebanon TN. http://www.wantfm.com/ (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1796, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1200, Oct 18 at 0140 UT, WOAI San Antonio is still remarkably weak,
with CCI, apparently WOAI the one with a silly footballgame. It`s eclipsed by
inbooming 1210 KGYN Guymon OK on day pattern as usual. In fact, last night,
KGYN splatter was axually QRMing WOAI and its CCI, WAMB? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1200, Oct 21 at 0622 UT, WOAI San Antonio TX is once again remarkably
weak, so suspect still on aux unit, or something else is drastically wrong,
rather than 50/50 kW ND. Has CCI I can`t null from another talk station, but
the latter is religious so suspect KFNW West Fargo ND --- yes, after Little
Rock AR reference in program outro, full ID at 0631 UT as ``Faith 1200, KFNW``
and weather forecast, low to be 48, and by now it`s atop WOAI.
These two are very close to opposite direxions from here, thus no nulling vs
each other, but both null E/W at same angle. Tonight no sign of WAMB Nashville,
previous occupant of 1200 combating WOAI. KFNW & WOAI make a SAH of approx. 7
Hz. Furthermore, KFNW is 50/13 kW U4 --- night pattern is supposed to be all to
the north, while day pattern has major lobe north, but considerable minor lobe
south. They must think it`s daytime! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1420, Oct 18 at 0143 UT, Kim Komando computer guruess (or rather,
``Digital Goddess``) offers to give a caller her personal e-mail for personal
advice. Seems to loop NE/SW, which is the worst direxion for the local Enid
KCRC 1390+30 spur/het. Her website is user-unfriendly! What does she know? You
have to enter a zip code to find ``your`` station of the 450+ she`s on.
Why should I have to look up the zip codes for possible stations, such as
Lubbock TX, Hobart OK, or Neosho MO? I try entering Neosho anyway, and what do
I get? Three unrelated Wisconsin stations in Fond du Lac, Fort Atkinson and
Milwaukee! OK, I enter zips for Lubbock and Joplin, but she`s on other stations
in those cities. On a hunch, I try Mankato MN for KTOE, and she is on there,
but Sunday night, not UT Sunday. WOC Davenport IA looks like another very good
prospect: BINGO, Saturdays at 6 pm CT [starting at 23+ UT, soon to be 00 UT
Sundays] (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1440+, Oct 20 at 0610 UT, norteña music loops ESE/WNW, making LAH
with ESPN from the NE/SW, i.e. WGEM in IL. The Spanish is no doubt KTUV Little
Rock AR, and the one off-frequency to the hi side, 5000/240 watts U2, night
pattern slightly CCW from E-W unless it`s on ND day pattern (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1460, Oct 21 at 0619 UT, ``1460, KXNO, iHeart Radio`` promo in heavy
CCI. This is Des Moines IA, 5/5 kW U2, with night pattern favorable to NE/SW.
It might be helpful to know which stations belong to iHeart and other major
groups, but ownership is not covered in the NRC AM Log (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1510, Oct 16 at 2254 UT, dominant signal from east/west is in
Spanish, canned ID by super-hype voice actor as ``La Ke Buena 15-10 AM``; WLAC
Nashville is starting to fade up underneath this. After next song another ID at
2257 UT, ``La Ke Buena, la que toca pura buena``; 2300 UT as losing out to WLAC
with Fox ``news``, TOH ID as WQQW (letters pronounced in English), i.e.
Highland IL, 1 kW daytimer near St Louis MO, conveniently direxional
southwestward. Official October sundown will be 2315 UT until sunrise 1200 UT
(November: 2245 UT to 1245 UT). Yes, it`s a sibling station to KQQZ 1190, KZQZ
1430 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1530, Oct 18 at 0601 UT, YL ID for Radio Mujer, seemingly three times
in a row; still can`t copy all the details vs CCI, but sure sounds like she
mentions KLVE, 95.1 FM Bastrop. The FCC has no 95.1 in Bastrop TX and no
station with those or similar calls. Anyhow we know the 1530 station is really
KZNX Creedmore TX (Austin market).
Wayne Heinen of the NRC AM Log says the 95.1 with same ownership as 1530 KZNX
is: K236AY, 99 watt translator licensed to Westlake Hills, apparently now
relaying KZNX 1530 instead of KTXZ 1120.
But what is this ``KLVE``(?) they keep IDing as? The real KLVEs are in
California, or KLBE is in North Dakota, none on 95.1. BTW, WTFDA DB comes up
with 18 listings in TX on 95.1; FCC FM Query comes up with 35, including CPs,
APPs, USEs – whatever that mean (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
