I hope both KIXI and KJR stay away from AM IBOC.

Dave,
Thanks. Hope you are right. I am not looking forward of another strong
IBOCer in the NW.

I think (and hope!) Dave may be right: 950-KJR is already an HD
sub-channel of its sister station (KUBE-FM), just as 880-KIXI shares HD
space with 107.9 FM.
Haven't heard back from KIXI yet as to their AM-IBOC plans - keep your
antennae crossed...

Your HD1, your main HD channel HAS to be what the analog is. Your HD2 or HD3
can be whatever you want to..

Hi Patrick:
I share your concern, albeit in reverse: KIXI aims right at me, while I am
towards the side of KJR's lobes.
I checked KIXI's web site, and they are advertising only their FM HD-2
simulcast in connection with their HD radio give-away, not any sort of AM
mention, so perhaps they are
Kevin,
Thanks. I can just see 4(!) frequencies going out the door for DU/TP DX.

Do they say KJR 950? There is also KJR FM. I heard KJR was not going
IBOC as they were close to KOMO on Vashon.
KJR will be a real terror here as they have an ERP of 100 KW in this
direction.

Yes, it was KJR 950 that was specified. KJR-FM has been HD for quite
some time. I believe KJR KOMO are separated by about a couple of
miles.

I know KIXI has been promoting receiving them in HD, but I've only
heard it in reference to 106.9 HD-2 (KWRM, Bremerton).
If I remember correctly, KJR 950 is co-located with KGNW 820 Burien (on
Vashon, of course).

Eric,
It will be interesting to see if they can get away with it with no QRM
as there are several stations on Vashon. If they are co located with
KGNW, then it may get into their signal, let alone 1000 or 1090.

My understanding, as of a couple of years ago, was that
It sort of makes sense from a business standpoint, seeing as KJR-AM is
the only one of Clear Channel's Seattle stations that's not already
using HD.
Speaking of KJR (sort of), there's a rumor going around town that KIRO
might switch to all sports, especially if they take back the Mariners
Scott,
Thanks for the info. Not a good sign if KJR KIXI both hit the IBOC
switch, especially for the Puget Sound DXers. KJR will be worse than
KIXI here, as they have their fiqure eight South-West lode aimed right
at me. With the South phased using the NW SW EWEs, I get S9+50 some
nights on
Bruce,
That would be a disappointment if KIRO changes to all sports. I would
rather have KOMO do it. KIRO has some good talk shows and I listen to
them often on the van radio. KIRO is the strongest Puget Sound AM signal
here, followed by KJR.
